Presidents Message
It’s been a massive year for the club. Returning to Kingsley this season after a year based out of Chichester gave us a real sense of perspective and what we’ve achieved over the past two years is something worth calling out properly.
The headline is simple but the work behind it wasn’t, two major capital projects delivered that will shape the future of the club for years to come:
- 4 lane training nets at Chichester North
- A brand new pitch laid at Creaney School
These weren’t quick wins. Both projects have been years in the making, requiring persistence, planning, and strong support from our community. The outcome has always been clear, increased capacity, better facilities, and a stronger foundation to support the continued growth of our club. And that growth is real. Our Blasters program has now been recognised as the largest in Western Australia, a huge achievement and reflection of our pathway into Junior Cricket.
We capped the end of the season off in style, hosting our biggest end of season celebration yet. Blasters and Stage 1 came together for a fantastic night featuring 7 food trucks and girls’ cricket played under flood lights, a great showcase of what this club has become both on and off the field.
On field, the results backed up the investment in the club.
We had five teams make finals this season:
- U17 Maroon Girls
- U17 Maroon Boys
- U15 Maroon Boys
- U14 Gold Boys
- U13 Gold Boys
That level of representation in finals doesn’t happen by chance. It reflects the depth of talent across the club and the work being done by our coaches week in, week out. From those teams, our U17 Girls progressed through to the Grand Final. While we didn’t quite get the result to make it three in a row, it was still an outstanding campaign. To be competing at that level year after year says everything about the strength of our Girls program. This group has set the standard and if anything, this result will only fuel their drive to go one better next season.
None of this happens without the committee.
What you see on a Saturday or Sunday is the finished product, kids playing, teams competing, families enjoying the club. What you don’t see is the hours that go in behind the scenes to make that happen.
This group works relentlessly to give every child the opportunity to play cricket and have a great experience doing it. From organising registrations and forming teams, managing finances and keeping the club running day to day, through to coordinating grounds, dealing with council, securing equipment, arranging uniforms, managing comms, updating the website, organising photos, yearbooks and running social events.
It’s constant and it’s often unseen.
The reality is simple. Without this group, there is no club. Their effort is what allows everything else to happen and they deserve genuine recognition for the role they play in making Kingsley what it is.
And here they are:
- Jaron Bresland – Vice President
- Garry Laver – Registrar
- Rudolph Vorster – Our newly appointed Treasurer!
- Gill Allison – Secretary
- Shane Healey – Boys’ Coordinator
- Aaron Le Page – Girls’ Coordinator
- Allan Hall – Blasters Coordinator
- Chris Waslin – Equipment
- Peter Grove – Capital Projects
- Kelly Lee-Bell – Trophies
- Meagan Hedges – Yearbook
- Naomi Waslin – Uniforms & Photos
- Claire Ruddle – Photos
- Alicia La Mont- Socials
- Lynette DeSilva – General duties
Looking ahead, the momentum at KWJCC is only building. We are forecasting strong growth with up to 30 teams next season, which is a reflection of the energy across the club and the commitment from our families, coaches and volunteers. A key priority remains working closely with the City of Joondalup to secure two pitches at Kingsley, which will be critical to supporting this growth and improving the experience for all players.
Throughout the year we acknowledge players through baggies, milestones as well as other forms worthy of being made aware. Our coaches and managers have an appreciation night where we put on a show with a cricket game under lights, with food trucks as well as drinks and snacks provided by the club.
The focus is simple, grow the game, improve our facilities and continue creating an environment where kids want to play, develop and keep coming back.
Enjoy the break. Keep fit. Stay sharp.
As always. . . up the Kings!
Matt
